Pom pom Dust Bunny and some Totoro links :-)

File 276At the moment, My Neighbour Totoro is a big hit in my house Smile And a giant Totoro teddy to snuggle with is no. one on the Birthday wish list. Right now, though, I need to work from my stash for financial reasons Wink So I'll start out with the smallest thing - a dust bunny Smile It takes about 10 minutes to make, and children can do some of the work themselves.

It's simply a pom pom made without too many wraps so you can clearly see the individual strands of yarn. If you don't know how to make a pom pom, here is a good instructional, and here's one that's even easier.

The eyes are made with a round of single crochet in a magic ring with white yarn - see how to do this here (only in Danish, sorry!). Use worsted weight yarn and a size D-3 crochet needle. The pupils are made using a strand of the black yarn split in two or a thinner yarn.

First crochet the eyes and weave ends. Then thread the black yarn onto a wool needle and bring it through the center of the pom pom, and through the center of one of the eyes. Make a French knot and bring the yarn through the eye and the center of pom pom again, tie the two ends and trim. Repeat with second eye. See more on crocheted eyes here

Next mini-project will be this little guy Smile And this one of course, so we will get everyone. And THEN Totoro - pattern here <3 They don't come snugglier than this Smile
